What Is MOUS Certification?
MOUS stands for Microsoft Office Specialist. This certification was developed by Microsoft in response to the requests for official certification in the MS Office Suite of software. These include the programs Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and Access.
Many organizations, governments, and individuals use these software programs to conduct business, word processing, email, spreadsheet, and for presentation needs.
What Will You Learn During MOUS Certification?
According to Microsoft, the curriculum for this credential will:
"...feature Web-based pretests, application-specific certification exams, and a series of Microsoft Press step-by-step books that help you demonstrate expertise in accomplishing essential job tasks across multiple applications."
There are three levels of MOUS Certification:- MOUS Specialist Certification - The candidate selects one or more study tracks to pursue: Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access, or Excel. Successfully completing an exam in one or more of the respective tests qualifies you for a MOUS Certification in the specialized field.
- MOUS Expert Certification - There are two tracks for this certification: Expert in Word or Expert in Excel. The candidate may pursue either or both certifications for an Expert Rating by passing the required exams.
- MOS Master Certification - This is the highest certification available in the MOUS program. Candidates must pass four exams: three required (Expert Word, Expert Excel, PowerPoint) and one elective (Outlook or Access).
