Microsoft has a lengthy history of providing top-quality training materials that allow people to demonstrate expert-level technical knowledge by passing a strenuous exam. The MCSE certification program at one time stood for Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer but was recently changed to Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert. This change in name represents a modification to the old system, which certified users in only a specific software path used to solve a singular problem.
The new MCSE training seeks to expand the knowledge base of its trainees to help them make use of multiple types of software in solving more complex problems. As such, MCSE training consists of eight sub-test areas in which the trainee can test to become a Solution Expert: desktop infrastructure, private cloud, server infrastructure, data platform, business intelligence, messaging, communication, and SharePoint.
Through an MCSE training program, the trainee would learn about all software, hardware, and security related to each topic area. Trainees are able to take exams to demonstrate their knowledge in certain areas and have the option to add to their certification at a later date. By the time someone passes the MCSE certification exam, that person should be prepared to step into a job in the chosen expert area.
As far as careers go, the MCSE training and certification program prepares students to work in a range of software industries. Each MCSE test area aids in getting jobs in various fields. For example, the Private Cloud certification teaches students to install, maintain, and administer Microsoft Windows Server, which is standard in many industries, in addition to installing and maintaining a private cloud using Microsoft System Center. Someone with MCSE certification in private cloud would have the training to work in any sized company and guide that company's IT department in instituting the cloud and training other employees on its uses.
Overall, a MCSE remains one of the most trusted certification programs in the tech sector. Anyone who is able to become MCSE certified will have an advantage in trying to find a new job or move forward at their current company.
